Apartment Alba sul Mare is located in an 18th Century palazzo on the main sea front road in Ortigia, the historical centre of Siracusa, so offers wonderful sea views. The accommodation comprises of a lounge, kitchen, double bedroom and a bathroom, with a further bed available on a mezzanine level. There are also two balconies with sea views and a large roof terrace. The airport at Catania is approximately an hour’s drive away.

The palazzo has an imposing street entrance which leads into a hallway with a large staircase. The private access to the apartment is located on the 3rd floor.
The main entrance to the apartment leads directly into the lounge which has been furnished with a sofa, antique sideboard and a table and chairs. The room has been tastefully decorated and features a tiled floor with wooden inlay and offers several pieces of modern art. The room also has french windows which open onto a balcony offering sea views and a small table and two chairs.
A door from the lounge leads to the small, but modern kitchen. The room has been equipped with an electric hob and oven, fridge, sink, toaster and a washing machine.
A further door from the lounge leads to the bedroom. This room has been furnished with a large, wrought iron double bed, a bedside table and offers a built-in wardrobe for clothes storage. A fitted step-ladder provides access to a small mezzanine level which offers a further double bed. As with the lounge, french windows provide access to a small balcony which offers sea views. The apartment also has a portable air-conditioning unit which is usually housed in the bedroom.
A door from the bedroom provides access to the bathroom which has been fitted with a shower, sink, bidet and toilet.

The apartment’s two balconies provide wonderful views of both the sea and parts of Ortigia, including Castello Maniace, a fortress dating from the 12th century. The apartment also offers a large shared roof terrace which provides ideal space for sunbathing and relaxing.

Please be aware that Ortigia is the historical centre of Siracusa. Restaurants, shops and residential properties are all within close proximity of each other and therefore some accommodation in this area may be subjected to noise levels associated with town dwellings.
Sites of interest within the city include the ancient Greek Theatre, where performances are still staged during May & June and which forms part of a larger archeological park. The archeological museum has one of the best displays of archeological remains in Sicily. The old cathedral located in Piazza Duomo, the heart of Ortigia, dates from 1728, but includes 8th century Norman artifacts.
Siracusa also offers beaches which are generally located to the south of the city and include the resorts of Arenella, Fontane Bianche and the protected coastline of Vendicari.
Further afield from Siracusa, but within easy driving distance are the Baroque towns of Noto, Modica, Ispica and Ragusa Ibla. The popular resorts of Taormina, Giardini Naxos and Letojanni are located north of Catania, whilst the imposing form of Mount Etna is easily visible from Siracusa and offers numerous opportunities for excursions.
