| Area info. |
Cala Zimmari which is the only sandy beach of the island is approximately 15 mins walk from the hotel although there are several bays which are only a few minutes walk.
Panarea is one the smallest and lowest island of the Aeolian Islands, situated between Lipari and Stromboli. There are a number of small uninhabited islands that surround Panarea, which are all that remain of the once huge extinct volcanic crater, whilst Timpone del Corvo is the highest point at 412 m above sea level.
The three small hamlets, San Pietro, Ditella & Drauto, are all located on the eastern side of the island. The main port is located in San Pietro, which also offers a number of restaurants, shops and an ATM. Perhaps the most impressive location on the island is Cala Junco bay which is a charming beach enclosed by volcanic reefs and located at the southern most point of the island. From this beach a climb leads to a prehistoric village.
There are several options for travelling to and from the Aeolian Islands. Ferries and hydrofoils run from Milazzo to all of the Islands, but please refer to the ’Travel Info’ - Ferry section of the website for further information regarding travel to the Aeolian. For those flying to Catania, it is possible to take a taxi from the airport to Milazzo and then catch the hydrofoil or ferry. There is also a train service between Palermo and Milazzo. During Peak Season (June – September) there is also a regular hydrofoil direct to the Aeolian Islands from Naples and Palermo.
