| Accommodation details |
Torri Pepoli offers a unique opportunity to stay in a piece of Sicilian history. The castle, one of two in Erice, was first built by the Normans in the 11th Century, but includes numerous additions, including three imposing watch-towers that were built from 15th Century. The castle is still owned by the Pepoli family, who first came to prominence in Sicily under the Norman court of Federick II.
The hotel has 7 rooms in total all of which have been individually styled and decorated to a good standard and offer stunning views and an ensuite bathroom (6 with bath and 1 with shower only), air-conditioning/heating, mini-bar, telephone and satellite television.
Maria Giuseppina and Virginia are superior double rooms. Riccardo, Laura & Sigerio are the junior suites which offer larger rooms. The Elisabetta suite is an even larger room positioned in one of the turrets whilst the deluxe suite Agostino comprises of a large double bedroom, a separate lounge area and a private terrace.
A third bed can be provided in the Virginia, Sigerio & Elisabetta rooms whilst the deluxe suite (Agostino) can offer up to 5 beds.
The hotel’s restaurant has been excavated from the old stone walls to provide luxurious dining facilities specializing in local Sicilian cuisine and wines. There is also a communal lounge area, reading room and a breakfast room/bar.
The hotel also has extensive grounds and gardens that are extremely well maintained.

| Area info. |
The castle is located in the medieval hill-top town of Erice within the province of Trapani on the west coast of Sicily. The origins of Erice stem from its association with Venus, the goddess of fertility and the town was once the site of a magnificent temple. The ‘Castello di Venere’ is the second of the two castles within Erice and occupies the site of the original temple. Besides the history of the town, Erice offers some of the best views in Sicily, with the red rock of Mount Cofano visible to the north, the Egadi Islands and Trapani visible to the south-west and on a clear day, the coast of Tunisia.
Other areas of interest that are within easy driving distance from Erice include San Vito lo Capo (beach resort), Scopello (fishing village), Riserva dello Zingaro (nature reserve) and the temples of Segesta and Selinute. The Province of Trapani also offers some stunning countryside, as well as numerous beaches and bays along the coastline. There is also a ferry service linking Trapani to the nearby Egadi Islands. The nearest International airport is Palermo.
